there's a boat that's leaving soon for new york...

...well it's actually Virgin Atlantic Flight VS001, but I'll be on it.

Off the top of my head, a few songs about or from the City Which Never Sleeps...

See you on East 17th Street...

Nice list.
What about Angel of Harlem (sort of)

Thanks. Angel of Harlem yes definitely. I didn't put much thought into my selection to be honest. I'm sure there are hundreds of others...

I think you need some disco!

And some Christopher Cross.

Have a good time.

Alan Partridge:

I, I, actually know New York.

Janey Katz:

You did?

Alan Partridge:

Mmm, I popped over there, and I really did get into, as Billy Joel put it, I really did get into a New York state of mind. Um, I jumped in a cab and I said, "Cabbie, take me to the core of the Big Apple. I want to check out the bits, dude". I really did say that...

Disco yes. We should definitely have some disco: hope this meets with your approval Cocktails?

I think I'm plumping for Billy Joel as my cheese option, rather than Christopher Cross. I mean if Partridge approves...

Top tune. Hadn't heard that in a while either.

And watch it with calling Billy Joel cheese! Classic songwriter I think you'll find...

Mmm, I think maybe Billy Joel is one of those artists I'm a bit insecure and defensive about. Liked the early albums (Piano Man, 52nd Street) but I think things went a bit downhill from Uptown Girl onwards?
