Hello there! This is a great song - I hadn't heard it before. Funnily enough I was left with Sam and Dave in my head after too. Which is not entirely bad I suppose.
Great Brazilian covers too. And if you think they don't look as good on CD then thank heavens you're not downloading them!
Well hello Cocktails! You're back! For a while at least?
I agree there are definitely worse songs than "Soul Man" to have spinning round in your head for the day.
As well as being nice to look at, those two Brazilian impulse buys are actually better to listen to than I had imagined. So wins all round!
Interesting you should pick up on CD buying. I think I have wearied of Spotify lately: there's just too much music there to deal with. I'm forever compiling playlists and never getting round to listen to them. I think I need to make some kind of finanical commitment to make sure I do actually play the music, if only to justify spending the dosh. (Does that make any sense?)
...And downloading has definitely lost its appeal, such as it ever was.
I completely agree about 'financial committment'. I find music I have even copied off friends difficult to take seriously somehow. I don't seem to listen to it properly in the same way that I would if I had actually purchased a hard copy. I've just been listening to a great Philip Glass opera today (la belle et la bete - it goes with the Cocteau film and is suprisingly good) which I borrowed from the Barbican library and ripping it is just not going suffice. I will have to buy it. Not that I mind giving Philip the money either!
No, didn't see Jonny. I have heard a few tracks and they didn't blow me away so haven't really followed up on it. I'm anxiously awaiting the rumoured and long-awaited Gerry Love album...
I'm not particularly back. Still short on time and feeling spectacularly demotivated to write anything myself. Hopefully I'll get my mojo back at some point.
Yeah I know what you mean about Jonny. I listened to the album on Spotify and was a bit non-plussed too. I just fancied a gig and bought the ticket on the day.
Some tuneful stuff though, nice harmonies, good banter and a run through a track from the latest TFC album=turned into a good night out. May or may not splash out on the album...

Back to vinyl soon, I expect...
Also Cocktails: I'm wondering if by any chance you went to see Norman Blake turning out in his "Jonny" incarnation the other night?
It was a most agreeable evening.

Good luck with that mojo!
