no nonsense pop music

Been listening to some great bubblegum pop this week. Since they took "Top Of The Pops" off the telly
(yes, I know that was ages ago) this kind of stuff has gone off my radar. Should I start listening to daytime Radio 1 again?

Check out Alphabeat...

...and The Ting Tings.

Those tracks are annoyingly catchy. Every now and again I hear something good on 6Music and find myself pleased that there are still some good pop tunes around. I've just posted one of my current favourites by the Mystery Jets on the site.

I wondered whether you might be at the Pentangle gig? Obviously you were having a much more interesting time in Krakow!

Hello Cocktails. I still can't believe they took "Top Of The Pops" off the telly. I know you used to get a fair amount of tat (novelty records, asinine boy bands and so on) but you did also get to hear--and buy if you wanted to--top pop songs like these. Your Mystery Jets selection is a catchy song and they've got that 80s look down to a tee...but why would they want to???

No I missed the Pentangle gig. Afraid most of my recently acquired taste for folk music seems to revolve around current artists. I haven't got much of a back catalogue. Thanks for the tip though...

I see the Ting Tings made the Glastonbury line-up too. Maybe that makes them officially "indie"?
